FSC UK has launched a new dedicated construction website and a practical guide for specifiers, underlining the growing importance of responsible timber sourcing as demand for low-carbon building materials continues to rise.

The launches took place during the two-day WoodBUILD conference, held on 30th June and 1st July in Trefforest, South Wales, where more than 250 delegates from across the forestry, timber and construction sectors gathered to discuss the theme of Responsible Timber Futures Through Policy and Practice.

Speaking at the conference, Heather Hulse, FSC UK’s Training & Outreach Officer, introduced the new Build with FSC platform, a website developed specifically to support architects, engineers, contractors, developers and procurement professionals working with timber.

Available at buildwithfsc.org.uk, the website serves as a central source of information on FSC-certified timber and responsible sourcing. It provides guidance on specification, procurement and certification, alongside information about the environmental, social and economic benefits of sourcing forest products from responsibly managed forests.

The launch comes at a time when the construction sector is increasingly looking to timber to help reduce embodied carbon and meet sustainability targets. At the same time, clients and project teams are facing growing expectations around supply chain transparency and proof of responsible sourcing.

Alongside the website, FSC UK unveiled its new Choose FSC: Specifying Forest Products Responsibly guide. Designed as a compact reference tool, the guide explains the fundamentals of FSC certification, including Chain of Custody requirements, product claims and labelling categories. It also offers practical advice on integrating responsible sourcing requirements into procurement and specification processes.

The organisation has also updated its Is it FSC? Delivery Checklist, a pocket-sized resource intended to help buyers, merchants, site teams and certificate holders verify that FSC-certified products are accompanied by the correct documentation.

The launches closely reflected many of the themes discussed throughout WoodBUILD 2026, where delegates highlighted the need for stronger supply chains, responsible procurement and greater collaboration across the timber value chain.

For a sector seeking to balance increasing timber use with robust environmental credentials, the new resources are intended to provide practical support for everyone from designers and specifiers to manufacturers, contractors and procurement teams.
